    Swish’s In-game Rules
Descriptions produced by JennoKoala with the input of various members of the moderation and senior staff team.
    1. No Hacked Clients
Since the evolution of multiplayer servers, hacked clients have been forbidden on servers that have morally right attitudes. Swish is no exception and, as such, has a zero tolerance attitude to the usage of hacked clients. The term "hacking" refers to using modifications of your vanilla Minecraft client to allow you to perform actions that others can not. This is forbidden.

If a staff member feels that a user is conducting such an act - and gains sufficient evidence - the user will be banned. Hacked clients can represent an array of different mods, where some could be legal upon our servers, and some not. A list of approved and disapproved mods can be found below:

    Approved:
    > Modloader
    > Forge Modloader
    > Show Durability
    > Better Animations / Animated Player / Better Horses
    > Any mod that improves how players or mobs look.
    > AntiSteve
    > Optifine
    > Any Minimap Mod that does not have an entity radar
    > Shaders Mods
    > Advanced HUD
    > Mob Dismemberment.
    > TooManyItems
    > TwitchTV Chat Mod
    > Liteloader
    > MC Capes Mod

    Disapproved:
    > Any modpacks that include options such as water-walking, X-ray, flight, sprint hacks, etc.
    > Autojoin
    > Gives a high advantage of joining servers above any other player
    > Any minimap with entity radar enabled
    > This includes Zan's mini-map and Journey Map as well as any other map with entity radar or Player radar.
    > Inventory Tweaks
    > Autoswitch
    > Makes switching a flawless things to do, providing instant eat-n-attack abilities.
    > Damage Indicators
    > KillAura and other Forcefield type Mods
    > TukMC
    > NoSlowDown
    > No Knock Back / Anti-Knock Back
    > X-Ray Mods
    > Any mod which allows you to see through blocks.
    > Entity Proximity Detector
    > Indicates where Mobs are and how far away they are.
    > World Downloader Mods
    > Any mod which allows a player to download maps from the server.
    > All Flying Mods
    > Hats mod
    > FullBright

Please note: not every single approved or disapproved mod is on this list. Therefore, it is important to think about this question when logging into the server, ‘Is this mod I am using going to give me an advantage over other users?’ If the answer is yes, but the mod cannot be found in the above list, I suggest you ask a staff member for clarification in order for you to be confident when logging in. Also note that this list can change at any given time, so please ensure you regularly check the rules to make sure you are abiding by them and you are not subject to punishment.

The term "ban" refers to not being allowed to join a server. Players are never banned without a reason or cause. The term "mute" refers to not being able to chat on a server. Like bans, players are never muted without a reason or cause. Please ask a Sr Staff member if you feel you were wrongfully banned. If you feel you were unjustly muted or banned, please post in the relevant area on our forum.

Any rule broken that may result in a ban or a mute is at the discretion of staff. If they feel your actions warrant a severe punishment, they may.

If you experience playing against a user who is breaking this specific rule, please alert a moderator via Teamspeak or in-game. If they are unavailable, and it is possible, record them yourself and report them HERE.

    2. No Inappropriate or Offensive Skins

Skins portraying inappropriate features of the human body, eg; men or women’s genitalia will result in a punishment recorded on your account. Offensive skins which display infamous world leader’s, terror organisations or racial groups will also result in a punishment. This rule has been put in place simply because we do not want members of our community feeling discriminated against, offended or discouraged to play on our server.

    3. Respect every member of the Community

    A)
Regardless of their rank, or where they are situated in the hierarchy of Swish, all of our members should feel respected once signing into our server. Harassing, abusing and/or insulting any members of our community is a form of disrespect and is strictly prohibited.

    B) Respect doesn't just mean being nice to a fellow member of the community, it also means showing support and belief that the decisions made by the staff team are ones that are fair and done so for the good of the community. Distrusting those decisions and going to the extent to disrespect the person who personally made that decision will also result in a punishment.

If you believe a moderator is disrespecting members of the community, or not conducting their jobs in a correct manner, please report them a Senior staff member.

If you see that a Sr. Moderator is acting unprofessionally and disrespecting community members, please report them to an Administrator or an Owner.

If you believe an Administrator is disrespecting fellow members of the community, go directly to an owner.

    4. Do not spam or use derogatory language in the public chat

Spamming, or using derogatory language, is not permitted in the view of the public.

    A) Please consider that some members of our community may be at an age where viewing swear words or profanity simply is not appropriate. Light words such as: ‘Damn’ or ‘Crap’ are allowed upon our server; although, we do discourage it.

    B) Spamming is petty and annoying. Similar to using all caps, spamming is an unfair advantage of gaining attention from another user. We encourage all of our players to talk in a civil and fair manner. Spamming is immature and has the possibility to flood out important messages in the chat.

    5. Do not advertise

Please do not advertise any content which is not related to Swish.

If you are broadcasting live, also known as streaming on any of our gamemodes, you may advertise it in the Swish chat as long as you do not abuse this consent. Abusing this rule is when a player advertises his/her stream several different times to the point where (s)he is causing spam in the chat.

If you advertise any site which does not contain any Swish related content, this includes: YouTube, Google+, Twitter, Facebook etc, you will be dealt with appropriately by a Staff Member as this is prohibited.

If you promote or publicise any Teamspeak or Minecraft server, you will be dealt with by a Staff Member as this, much like the previous point, is not approved on our server.

    6. Do not make racist or homophobic remarks.

Racist or homophobic remarks are not authorized upon the server. Our community is open to all types of races and cultural backgrounds and we do not discriminate players by their differences. We, as a community, view all players in the same exact manner. This rule is in place to ensure everyone feels safe and secure in our in-game environment and we do not appreciate it when players feel uncomfortable logging into our server. This is essentially the case when a user is making racist or homophobic remarks.

    7. Do not start arguments or flame wars.

Swish is profound as a friendly community and you are expected to be friendly and courteous to all users. We want Swish to be a very friendly and peaceful community. We prefer people to be able to have open opinions and be free to discuss topics. No matter what their opinions may be, please respect them. If you do disagree with their opinions, either keep it to yourself, or write a structured reply towards their belief, if you do wish to make a structured reply, make sure it is calm and a nice reply, not anything like this:
    • "You’re stupid to believe that! I’m right, you’re wrong!!!"
    • "Do you really believe that? How old are you?"
    • "Your opinion doesn’t matter!"
    8. Do not mislead others

Tricking other users, also known as misleading them, can be used as an advantage and a beneficial way of winning games, confusing your opponent or assisting them into do something bannable. For example, if a user was acting as though he was a staff member and was threatening to punish other players, this would be seen as misleading others. Telling users:
    • "ALT+F4"
    • "I am a moderator, do what I say or you will be banned!"
    • "It is okay to hack on this server, it is not against the rules!"
Is not allowed and users who ignore this rule will be consequently dealt with.

    9. Do not distribute personal or confidential information about a user without consent from that individual

Everyone in our community should feel absolutely 100% safe in regards to their personal information. Nobody wants their private details being distributed out to a large network of users without their consent. Failure to follow this rule can lead to severe punishments and, dependent on the circumstances, perhaps even a permanent removal.

Personal/confidential information would count as: age, name, Skype, IP, their location, where they work ect ect.

    10. Do not post Screamers or Pornographic images

Posting links that have the nature to scare or disturb other users is strictly prohibited. We take the distribution of these sorts of links very seriously and a link that has the possibility to mentally scar another user is not allowed.

    A) Screamers: images that display a disturbing image which, in most cases, is a female screaming in an excessive manner. The person receiving the screamer could have a heart condition, or a mental illness which, in some severe circumstances, could lead to death.

    B) Pornographic images: The distribution of pornographic images is not allowed. Our player base is predominantly under the age to view such material and, as such, must be treated with severe consequences.

    11. Do not exploit bugs or glitches

A user who is found exploiting bugs or glitches will be dealt with appropriately. Exploiting a bug that may allow you to gain unlimited arrows or a glitch that lets you leave the map should be forwarded to a senior staff member. Exploiting these types of flaws will, in most cases, give you a game changing advantage and must not be exploited.

    12. Do not unfairly gain wins

Unfairly gaining wins, also known as ‘boosting’, is an unethical manner of reaching the top of the leader-boards. Any user found boosting will be punished as it spoils the rest of the competition for everybody else. Situations where you are found continuously beating an alternative account is considered boosting or asking a friend to let you win is also considered boosting.

    13. Do not use an alternative account to bypass existing bans or mutes

Once you are banned; you are banned. If you have access to two different accounts, do not use your secondary account in order to bypass an existing ban. If found guilty, the account you used to bypass your original ban will also be banned for the same amount of time. We ban you for a reason: to ensure you suffer the appropriate consequences and to teach you not to do it again.

    14. Once logging into our server, you are then obliged to follow the rules and understand that any breach of the rules can, and will, lead to the appropriate action taken against you. This may even be a permanent removal from all platforms of our community.

    15. If loopholes are found in these rules, do not exploit them.

    16. These rules are subject to change at any time.

    17. As always, have fun and play fairly.

I'm glad these rules have finally been published (I've been waiting for this day for five weeks now) but I'm really proud and satisfied with the final outcome. I'd like to thank the following people:

    > Cormac for aiding with the majority of the thread.
    > TahsinRahman and Eruzia for assisting with a few bits and bobs and putting ideas forward.
    > Max, ejegun and Luke for constantly putting up with my nagging to review it and publish it.
    > @Anyone else who helped me, it was much appreciated!

Seriously, though, it was unanimously decided that the rules needed updating and I hope that they can maintain as the official ones for months to come.

It adds extra height to opposing players and therefore creates the opportunity to unfairly seek out players who are wanting to hide behind a small obstacle.
